ILIA DARCHIASHVILI HAS MET WITH THE SWISS FOREIGN MINISTER

On the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with his Swiss counterpart, Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.

The ministers focused on the productive and close cooperation between Georgia and Switzerland, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

They also discussed the regional security situation. Ilia Darchiashvili expressed gratitude to Ignazio Cassis for Switzerland’s strong and unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The conversation covered the progress of the Geneva International Discussions, with Darchiashvili updating his Swiss colleague on the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. The upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia and the government's efforts to ensure their compliance with international standards were also highlighted.

Additionally, the ministers touched on the cooperation between the two countries within international organizations and the importance of mutual support. The positive momentum of high-level visits between Georgia and Switzerland was also emphasized.
