First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs George Zurabashvili Visits the Swiss Confederation
From 17 to 20 March 2026, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, George Zurabashvili, conducted an official visit to the Swiss Confederation.
During the visit, the latest round of political consultations was held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation.
The parties discussed current issues in both bilateral and multilateral relations between Georgia and the Swiss Confederation. Particular attention was devoted to prospects for further deepening cooperation in the political, trade-economic and sectoral spheres, as well as to the advancement of active collaboration within the framework of international organizations.
The discussions also addressed regional challenges. The First Deputy Minister highlighted the severe humanitarian situation and the extremely difficult human rights conditions in Georgia’s occupied territories. George Zurabashvili expressed gratitude to the Swiss side for its support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for its role as a mediator with the Russian Federation.
As part of the visit, the First Deputy Minister held meetings with representatives of the Swiss Parliament and the Presidential Administration, as well as with the leadership of the Swiss Business Federation.
