ILIA DARCHIASHVILI HAS MET WITH THE FOREIGN MINISTERS FROM THE MEMBER STATES OF THE ORGANIZATION OF EASTERN CARIBBEAN STATES (OECS)

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili met with the foreign ministers from the member states of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) on their first official visit to Georgia.

During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral agendas between each country and explored opportunities for cooperation with the OECS and other multilateral frameworks. The discussion highlighted Georgia's commitment to strengthening global partnerships and expanding cooperation with countries across various regions.

The conversation also addressed the issue of Georgia's occupation and the situation in the occupied regions. Minister Darchiashvili expressed gratitude for the support from his counterparts regarding Georgia's UN General Assembly resolution on internally displaced persons from occupied territories, noting its significant humanitarian and practical impact on improving security and human rights in these regions. He updated his colleagues on Georgia's peace policy and EU integration efforts.

The talks included Georgia's involvement in regional international organizations and opportunities for enhanced cooperation. In individual meetings with the ministers, the focus was on expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as the economy, tourism, and education. Minister Darchiashvili highlighted Georgia's progress in governance, state services, and business environment reforms and offered to share Georgia's successful experiences. He also discussed Georgia's growing role in global energy and transit routes and ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the country's transit capabilities.

The visit was initiated by Minister Darchiashvili and included foreign ministers from Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda.
