LASHA DARSALIA HAS MET WITH THE UNHCR REPRESENTATIVE IN GEORGIA, KEMLIN FURLEY

On 8 October 2024, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia, met with the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Office in Georgia, Kemlin Furley. The meeting discussed issues related to the activities of the UNHCR office in Georgia.

The conversation also touched on the key thematic directions to be addressed during the 75th session of the UNHCR Executive Committee (ExCom), scheduled to take place in Geneva from 14 to 18 October, 2024. In addition, ongoing cooperation and future prospects were discussed.

The meeting also addressed the situation in Georgia’s Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, occupied by Russia. Particular attention was paid to the issue of internally displaced persons and refugees, emphasizing the importance of protecting their rights.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation.
